ABOUT
Dr Mlinganisi Sibandze is a Neuropsychiatrist from Johannesburg in the Gauteng Province who specialises in assessing and managing neuropsychiatric conditions. His passion is to help people, especially the vulnerable and marginalized, where each patient is treated with dignity and compassion. Nothing gives him greater joy than interacting with patients and their families. He spends time training and supervising junior doctors.
Dr Sibandze was born in Eswatini, formally known as Swaziland, where he obtained his first degree at the University of Swaziland. The rest of his impressive list of qualifications he achieved in South Africa. He also spent time in New Zealand, where he gained valuable experience. His experience stems from a deep and caring passion, together with continuous professional development in his field of neuropsychiatry.
With his passion for helping people as well as solving problems with a keen interest in the functioning of the human brain, Neuropsychiatry study was a natural choice for Dr Sibandze.
He is currently busy establishing his solo practice in Gauteng. Experience in private hospitals amongst very reputable specialists was the motivation to venture into private practice.
His Special Milestones include:
- Best registrar – Department of Psychiatry, 2015.
- Best Oral Presentation, Department of Psychiatry Annual Research Day 2015.
Dr Sibandze is a keen long-distance runner and has completed 6 Comrades ultra-marathons and numerous marathons. In his free time, he watches soccer and learns about other cultures. He speaks English and SiSwati fluently and Zulu, Xhosa and Sesotho conversationally.
He is a member of the Wits Neuropsychiatry group and participates in weekly meetings.
